Operation Deep Freeze Final Flights are Available
Final Flights are ready for Dispatch in the Forums
Operation Deep Freeze (OpDFrz or ODF) is the codename for a series of United States missions to Antarctica, beginning with "Operation Deep Freeze I" in 1955–56, followed by "Operation Deep Freeze II", "Operation Deep Freeze III", and so on. Given the continuing and constant US presence in Antarctica since that date, "Operation Deep Freeze" has come to be used as a general term for US operations in that continent, and in particular for the regular missions to resupply US Antarctic bases, coordinated by the United States military.
Our missionis to assist the United States Air Force's Air Mobility Command, in this case Simulated Air Force, in the movemnet of people and cargo to region at Christchurch New Zealand (NZCH). From this airport staging area our deliveries will then be transfered onto LC-130 (Skiers) and C17 cargo transports which will make the delivery runs to McMurdo Staion Antarctica (NZWD). We have been tasked by SIM AF to move at a minimum (7) seven mission into the region from Travis Air Force Base California (KSUU) by the end of the year.
Missions are posted in the Charter section of our airlines Forums http://z13.invisionfree.com/Virtual_USAairways/index.php?showforum=29 and within the VAFS flight schedules. Each missioin will show departures from Travis AFB to Honolulu to Pago Pago (OPTIONAL FUEL STOP for any mission other than 757's) to Christchurch to Pago Pago (OPTIONAL FUEL STOP for any mission other than 757's)to Honolulu. From here there are special charters setup to return to Vegas or Phoenix if you choose or you can return to Travis. Should you fly the entire run you can look for about 30 hours added to your logbook.

So how is Virtual USAairways planning to accomplish this tasking from Simulated Air Forces:
1. The requirement to fly on VATSIM has been waived but still highly encourged. By US using VATSIm we arre not only advertising for the joint operation and our airline, we advertise our willingness to help other organizations when they ask.
2. Pilots wishing to participate the pilot must sign up for these flights, which can be found in the Charter forum, within the mission you want. Only one mission to a pilot. We need these flights flown and if you would prefer, like Nei McGuirel, a different aircraft can be assigned. Remember though our minimum requiremen for the airframes call for at least a 757 to fly these routes. So choose from 757, 767, DC10, A330, A340, B747, B777, and A380.
3. Each pilot will dispatched on to these flights. Meaning you will fly need to fly these flights first before being able to choose another and/or flying any other flight in the system as these are Dispatched flights no exceptions. Plus you will need to fly these flights on VAFS for credit. If you do not have the rank to fly a particular flight sign up and arrangements can be made. Meaning in plain language; If your are still in the Regional or Domestic ranks all you need to do is ask and you may receive. Flights will be assigned/dispatched on a first come first serve basis only.
4. You may choose to fly only Honolulu PHNL to Christchurch New Zealand NZCH leg. SIM Air Force reports enough cargo and personel has been moved to PHNL to start from there according to Simulated Air Force. Also, if a 9 hour flight is too long please let us know and the fuel stop in Pago Pago can be added or wavied at your desire. This would make the trip two 5 hour flights. NOTE if planning to use the 757 NTSU Pago Pago is a required stop for fuel.
5. CALL SIGNS - as per our Operations Manual CACTUS and AWE.
6. (If flying online with VATSIM) Please enter the following the Remarks Section of Flight Plan form: www.virtual-usaairways.com/Mission Number/ SIMAF CRAF OP DEEP FREEZE for example the first flight www.virtual-usaairways.com/ MISSION DF09CA-01/ SIMAF CRAF OP DEEP FREEZE
7. Parking at Honolulu is at Hickam Air Force Base located North west area of the field right across from teh the start to runway 8L. Parking at Christchurch is in the Anarctica Center apron located just south and slight east of the passenger terminal.
8. At a minimum all (7) flights will have been flown by the end of the year.
Sign up now. Virtual-USAairways was asked to help out, not the other way around so lets help this organization out and fly out there missions.
I also want to wish each and staff member and pilot here a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. great job this year folks and looks klike a brighter new year for many.
