Saturday Scramble in Denver, February 27

Denver International

Denver is hosting the annual Rocky Mountain Rumble, and we will be there as well. Saturday, February 27, 2010 takes us to DIA. ZDV is hosting the event that includes Montrose (KMTJ), Eagle (KEGE), Yampa Valley (KHDN) and Gunnison (KGUC). Of course, any Star Alliance flight qualifies, but these airports will be staffed with atc, and are valid flights found in VAFS. If you want a challenge, try Aspen (KASE) as it is one of the most challenging airports in the country.

Special time for this scramble: 1800z to 2200z. Don't be late, or you'll miss all the fun

DIA is a major hub for United with Concourse B being United exclusive. Denver may not be a US Airways hub (we have 3 gates), but there are about 400 Star Alliance flights to choose from.

In addition, this year Vancouver will be staffed as long as the Olympics games are being played (28th), so a flight between DIA and YVR will also be a well controlled flight.

Denver International is the newest commercial airport in the United States.  It opened on September 28, 1995 after a year and a half delay in construction and a cost of nearly $5 billion.  It covers the largest area in the US and is the 10th busiest airport with over 51 million passengers in 2008.  It is also a beautiful arrival if you are on the west side of the plane arriving on one of the north/south runways.

USAirways uses Concourse C, gates C28-30.
