!!! BE VERY PATIENT AND EXPECT DELAYS AND QUITE POSSIBLY HOLDS EN-ROUTE AND AT ARRIVAL POINTS !!!! VATCAN, VATUSA and VATEUD are very excited to announce the details of our next Cross The Pond event. Saturday 24th October 2009 sees the return of our Eastbound leg, and we invite you to join us for this unforgettable experience made possible only twice a year. We are delighted to have Toronto Pearson (CYYZ), Boston Logan (KBOS), Chicago O’Hare (KORD) and Philadelphia International (KPHL) as our departure fields from North America this year, whilst Frankfurt (EDDF) and Munich (EDDM) will be our hosts on the other side. Departure are available from 1100z, running for four hours in order to be inclusive of as many time zones as possible. As always, high quality air traffic control will be provided for your departure, enroute segment, and of course the Oceanic crossing. A minimum of twelve highly skilled Oceanic controllers will be online throughout the event to deliver clearances and take position reports. After leaving Oceanic airspace, dozens of European enroute controllers will guide you towards your destinations where, finally, Frankfurt and Munich will be out in full force to welcome you home. Saturday Scramble on October 24th is planned in conjunction "Cross the Pond Eastbound event" Departures are scheduled to begin at 1100z (0600 EDT) and lasting until 1500z (1000 EDT). However we as an airline are going to veer slightly from the above description to help speed us along "Across the Pond". We are planning a group flight out of Newark to Copenhagen and Zurich trying to stay away from all the congestion which will occur with EDDF and EDDM. Not to say we will not incur congestion over the North Atlantic, so be prepared for anything. With Zurich many of our pilots will have the ability to fly the flight at there rank. Swiss Air operates a 737-800 (BBJ2) between KEWR and Zurich. All pilots are eligible to fly regardless of rank so long as you register with a group flight in our Pilot Forums under Events/ Cross the Pond forum. Those who do not have the minimum rank will not be able to fly with VAFS so by registering and flying at the time your flight your flight time will be verified (with VATAWARE) and manually entered. Please at the end of your flight make a second comment in the forum stating Block Out time at departure point(parking brakes released) and Block in Time at Arrival point (parking bakes set) Probationary pilots are allowed but no bonus time will be awarded. OKAY now the details. Flights will depart Newark KEWR going to Zurich LSZH and Copenhagen EKCH. The event times are different than the normal Scramble times to accommodate ATC in Europe. remember they are at a minimum 4 hours ahead Eastern time. Departures for the actual event start at 0600 EDT and Last till 1000 EDT. Follow the forums for exact departure times for these group flights nut suffice to say they will be morning departures. We will follow all North Atlantic procedures and most Event rules minus departure arrival points. Flights available at this moment LX19 737-800-BBJ2 Swiss KEWR to Zurich SAS910 A330-300 SAS KEWR to Copenhagen Airline and Flight number to be announced KEWR to LSZH KEWR to EKCH All details can be found in the Pilot Forums Mike Schmitt USA1001 CEO Virtual-USAairways
