Charlotte Hub

The Charlotte Int'l Airport (CLT) was built in 1936 as a Municipal Airport. Today it offers 635 daily departures with over 124 non-stop destinations. In 2004 the airport provided service to over 25 million passengers and transported over 184,000 tons of cargo.

Eastern was the first airline to provide service out of Charlotte back in 1937. The first big change came in 1954 when the airport was renamed Douglass Municipal and a 70,000 square foot terminal was added. It was not until 1982 that the name became Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

US Air began flights out of Charlotte after merging with Piedmont Airlines in 1989. US Air's commitment to Charlotte was apparent with the construction of a maintenance hanger in 1990. After a name change to US Airways in 1997, the airline further anchored itself in Charlotte by building a training facility and a line maintenance hanger for day to day maintenance. Today US Airways is the largest airline operating out of Charlotte with Express and Domestic flights.

Hello, my name is Greg Duffy and I am the Hub Manager here at Charlotte. Please be patient with me through this change and always be mindful of your hours to ensure I have all of them posted. If you should find a problem please make sure you let me know. This is the only way I will know. I do have a few Ideas for the hub, as most New Hub Mangers do, but I look forward to hearing any ideas that you the Hub Pilots may have.

This hub can only be successful if we as a hub work together and have fun. Keep an eye out for the comments section below where you will find updated information regarding activities at the Charlotte Hub. Please feel free to use the Office Forums or just simply email me through the website's contact form.

I look forward to working with all of you. Most of all, remember we are all here to have FUN.

Thanks,
Greg Duffy
